In ancient times, needles and pins were worn as amulets. Yndra is substantial, with an edge to it, a hint of danger — and that is why protection comes so naturally to it.

A sterling silver needle, about 7 cm long. I shaped it after an old Slavic-Celtic bone needle — the kind used for knitting with a single needle, loop by loop, as in Scandinavian needle-binding.

A needle creates something new. With it you can make a thing that never existed before. And with it you can join what was torn apart.

I understood the true meaning of the needle when I began to put myself back together. The old Maryna had fallen apart, and I had to gather myself piece by piece — to understand who I really am, to join all my parts, the light ones and the shadow ones. I am many things: kind, alive, angry, aggressive, fast, slow, flowing. And all of it is me.

The needle is a symbol of protection and of rebuilding. Of the fact that you can create something new. And that you can put yourself back together.

How to wear it: on a 75 cm or 50 cm chain — for those who like it closer to the neck; on a black or red cord — a gift from me, just choose the colour when ordering; or on Lina earrings.

Handmade. Sterling silver 925.

Also available gold-plated 18K, in a light Italian shade. Pieces in stock ship right away; others are made to order in 2–3 weeks.

GORECHIK — jewellery designed to be touched.
